If you’re a business with a Facebook Page, then you are likely familiar with the recent changes that have been made to the Facebook algorithm, resulting in lower post reach numbers for business pages.
Many businesses are left feeling frustrated with the added costs associated with purchasing Facebook Ads – requiring additional marketing budgets for boosting posts and promoting websites just to reach their already-existing Facebook audience.
And while there is definitely value in allocating a small amount of your budget to Facebook Ads, this is not the only way to gain valuable reach and exposure through the world’s most popular social media platform.
Pages organically reach about 16% of their fans on average. – Facebook for Business
Here are some ways that I’ve exceeded the average reach through both my own Facebook pages, and the Facebook Pages of the clients that I’ve worked with:
1) Create content that people want to read and share. Don’t just share information, news, promotions and updates on your own business, but share stories that educate, entertain, and intrigue your readers.
2) Curate images and content from other sources that fit with the interests of your target audience. The content that you share doesn’t always have to be produced by you. Sharing content from external sources (similar businesses, industry news, etc) is a great way to extend your reach! Just be sure to give proper credit to those sources. If you’re lucky, they may even return the favour by sharing your content with their audiences as well.
3) Don’t just act – interact. Social media platforms aren’t just a great space to share what you have to offer, but they are also a great way to network and interact with likeminded people and businesses. Be sure to like, comment, and share the posts on the Facebook Pages of those you follow. Ask questions, provide feedback, and provide positive reinforcement for the information that they’ve shared.
Remember: there is a big difference between social sharing and digital advertising. Be social, connect, and share the love, and in the end, you will reap the benefits of having a Facebook Business Page.
