How cool would it be to discover the world through someone else’s eyes via live video clips? Twitter’s new live-streaming video app, Periscope, does just that, and it’s becoming the most talked-about content platform in the digital space.
While the real-time reality-TV-like aspect of video sharing is appealing to almost any social media affectionado, I think there are many ways in which this platform could benefit bloggers and small business owners from a professional perspective as well. Here’s a list of what I believe to be the top 5 benefits to using this new app:
1) Enhanced Brand Exposure
Transparency, authenticity, and memorability are all important qualities when it comes to putting your personal and/or business brand out to the public. Through the ability to share real-time video, you can enhance viewer engagement, respond to real-time questions, and connect in an engaging and authentic way with your audience.
2) Engaging Product Reviews
For bloggers, product reviews are a great way to work with brands, and Periscope offers a new way to do so in an effective way. Now you can not only write about what you thought about a certain product, but you can show your readers how you use them through engaging video content.
3) How-To Videos In Real Time
For small businesses, Periscope is a great way to show your customers how your products are made, or to provide quick tips related to the service that you offer. You can answer questions, receive feedback, and connect with your audience live. Videos can also be saved to your camera roll, and used for future content marketing efforts, such as inclusion in e-newsletters, blog posts or shared through Facebook.
4) Live Experiential Content Marketing
For both bloggers and small businesses, Periscope offers a great way to share live experiences with your followers. Instead of following live events through hash tags, photo sharing and tweets, your viewers can actually watch your live event unfold in real time.
5) Real-Time Reporting
As you broadcast live, you are able to see how many people are following, liking and commenting on your video stream, and you have access to reporting on your broadcasts afterwards as well, including the ability to track how many times your videos have been replayed.
The best part? Periscope is directly connected to Twitter, so you already have a built-in audience.
If you’re a blogger and/or small business owner, I highly recommend trying out this app. And please feel free to add me as I’d love to follow your live adventures! (Bianca Bujan/bitsofbee)
